Investigators following up on tip in Carina Saunders murder find clothing and knife

4/19/2017 - Oklahoma City, OK -- Investigators following up on a tip regarding the 2011 murder and dismemberment of teen Carina Saunders report finding clothing and a knife during the search of a NW Oklahoma City home.

Saunders, 19, was found murdered and dismembered in a duffle bag behind a Homeland grocery store in Bethany in Oct. of 2011.

Tips received by law enforcement in 2013 indicated that evidence was buried in a "metal container" on the Oakdale Drive. property. Bethany police at the time reported that they visited the address in question and didn't find anything of evidentiary value.

OSBI agents began searching 504 and 504 1/2 Oakdale Drive again on April 11 of this year.

According to a search warrant, the man who previously lived at this address knew Saunders and was one of the last people to see her alive.

After an extensive search OSBI agents report finding a container filled with debris that also contained a shirt, some sandals and a folding knife.

Those items have been sent to a lab for DNA analysis.
