5/18/2017 - OKC, OK -- A former Oklahoma County jail nurse has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to smuggling cellphones into the jail and giving them to an inmate.
Raini Rubottom, 25, of Wellston, charged May 10, 2016 with a single felony count of possession of contraband in a penal institution.
The criminal charges stemmed from an internal investigation by the Oklahoma County jail into ongoing contraband issues with inmates.
Prosecutors alleged that on March 8, 2016, Rubottom was seen on surveillance video spending an excessive amount of time in two different inmate cells. Rubottom's job at the jail was to distribute medications to the inmates.
The two jail cells were searched and investigators found two cellphones and marijuana.
When confronted, Rubottom confessed to providing the inmates with the cellphones. Rubottom also admitted to a previous instance of providing an inmate with a cellphone.
Rubottom told investigators she was paid $200 to deliver the first phone.
Today Rubottom pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight years deferred, a $1,000 fine and court costs.
